About

Hello!! Living with Sin is a non-profit, low-stakes digital zine celebrating Tales of Crestoria’s fourth anniversary. Not only is this meant to be a fun project to encourage Crestoria’s fans to make something they can look back at, it is supposed to encourage participants of all backgrounds to join, regardless of experience. The theme, living with sin, embraces transgressors and non-transgressors alike and shows what they do when sin presents itself to them. FAQ

Alternative viewing here- What is a zine?
Standard definition - A (fan)zine is a non-commercialized, non-professional publication made up of images and texts that is created by fans for fans.
Non-standard definition - “A zine is just whatever the hell you want.”- Is this zine for-profit or for charity?
Neither. This zine is 100% free with 0% profit.
- Is this zine digital or physical?
This zine is digital.
- Will NSFW content be allowed?
No. This zine is 16+. If it is seen in the game, it is fine. Manga-based depictions may be asked to be toned down for a 16+ audience.
- How many contributors are you accepting?
Since this is a digital-only zine, we are not limiting the number of participants.
- Can I pitch an AU/crossover?
Yes! As long as it fits the theme, go for it.
- Is shipping content allowed?
No. Different people have different tastes and we want to respect that. All interactions within the zine are platonic only. (You will not be judged as a participant from what you ship, though.)
Feb 9th update: Canon-compliant ships will be allowed. This includes Orwin/Naya and Hawken/Nema.- Can I submit more than one work to the zine?
Yes! You should make at least one work your priority, but if you feel like you want to contribute more to the zine, feel free. (Maximum three submissions to avoid burnout, please.)
- Can I collab with someone on this zine?
Yes! Each collaborator must individually sign up, but if you want to collab with someone, just let us know.
- I am not an artist or a writer. Can I still participate?
Yes! In previous fanevents people have submitted things including but not limited to cosplay, recipes, and other handicrafts. Just let us know when you're signing up. (Note that we may ask you a couple of follow-up questions depending on what you're doing. You are still subjected to the same ground rules as your fellow participants - no hateful/derogatory submissions, 16+ appropriate, etc)
- Do I need Discord to participate?
No. While it is easier to keep track of participants and announcements, you do not need to join the zine discord to participate. Please note that by not joining the discord, it is your responsibility to correspond with the mods via either email ([email protected]) or Twitter (@living_with_sin) for sign-ups and check-ins. (Due to Tumblr’s history of a flaky messaging system, we are unable to chance lost messages through Tumblr, sorry.)
- Can I show off my WIPs to social media?
Yes! Showing off your WIPs on social media is highly encouraged. Guidelines for posting your finished pieces will be brought up at a later date.
- I’m an artist and would like to sell my work. Is that okay?
Yes! Once the zine is published, feel free to sell whatever work you make. However, you are 100% responsible for your own shipping and production.
- I have [insert event here] and I might need an extension but I’m not sure. Is it okay to ask for one?
Yes! Even if you do not actually use an extension, it is better to ask for one and check in with a mod than to leave us hanging as to whether you’re finishing up a piece or not.
Note that all extensions are case by case basis.- I have to drop out of the zine. Is that okay?
Yes. If you need to drop out of the zine for whatever reason, please let a mod know as soon as possible so we can mark you off the list of participants for
check-ins.
- How will I know if I’m accepted or not?
Because this is a casual zine, we have much more lax guidelines than most zines. Rather than having a formal application, you will be considered “an accepted participant” once you fill out the sign-up form. This is true for all applicants unless your pitches/work do not adhere to the zine’s general guidelines. You will only hear from us initially if we have follow-up questions for you.
From there you will be paired up with a mod to see your progress with check-ins. By the final check-in, we should be able to give the community a better estimate on the total number of contributors.
